Hi, you’re invited to a dinner at the Giles household, but it will be a little bit of a different kind of experience…

Hi friends,

I'm hosting a storytelling dinner at my home and would love for you to join. This evening is part of Solilo—a project that celebrates the power of storytelling, deep listening, and the transformation of personal narratives into art.

Many of you have heard me share about this idea over the past few years, and some have even participated in its various forms (like kindness cards). During the dinner, we'll share our stories, interpret each other's experiences through creative expression, and connect over a shared meal in a warm, welcoming environment.

Please watch the video for more details, and I hope to see you there.

PS. I extended the story submission date to May 26th :)

How it Works

  • 1. Share Your Story - Submit before May 26th :)

Reflect on a meaningful moment in your life — be it your first sip of coffee, a time you felt truly seen, a moment of kindness or loneliness, your favorite Christmas, your first kiss, your first breakup, or the first time you fell in love with a book. Share a story that resonates with you.

  • 2. Receive Someone Else's Story

Approximately a month before the dinner, you'll receive a story from another attendee. It might be from someone you know or someone you've yet to meet.

  • 3. Create Your Artistic Interpretation

Let the story inspire you to create something meaningful. Whether it's a photograph, a drawing, a piece of pottery, a poem, a latte, a dessert, or a sketch—choose a medium that speaks to you. Don't overthink it; let your creativity flow naturally.

  • 4. Dinner

During the dinner, we'll have a heartfelt show-and-tell. Each person will read their own story aloud, followed by the presentation of the artistic interpretation created by their partner. It's a celebration of connection, creativity, and shared experiences.

Just as a soliloquy allows one to voice inner thoughts aloud, this dinner invites you to share a personal story, entrusting it to another who will interpret it through their chosen art form.

Submit Your Story

by May 26th

It could be any story.
It doesn’t have to be dramatic —
just a moment that stayed with you.
Maybe something quiet.
Maybe something that changed you.

The vision for the future:

Maybe it’s just one dinner.
Or maybe it becomes something we keep returning to — with new stories, new people, and new moments of meaning.

This dinner is the first step in a larger journey: to create a space where stories and their artistic interpretations can be shared across communities — fostering connection, understanding, and reflection.

For now, Solilo is a quiet experiment — a collection of human experiences waiting to be brought to life through art. But one day, I would like it to be something more:

A magazine — a tangible collection of lived stories, paired with the art they inspired.
A traveling gallery — an immersive exhibit where stories are read, heard, and felt through visual, sonic, and sensory forms.
A storytelling archive — preserving the voices, emotions, and interpretations of people across time.
A living project — something that evolves as more voices, more hands, and more hearts take part.

If you have a story to share, you’re already part of it.
If you’re called to create, the stories are waiting.
